People say it’s fat that can’t be worked out…you have to lose weight. I don’t get it though, I’m already really thin! It’ just the love handles I have problem with. I’m 5′2 and I weigh 115…and I can’t lose any more weight or I’ll look like a stick!

IM not sure of your age but mostly likely you will loose this “fat” as you get older. You cannot spot reduce where you want to loose weight unfortunately. So I would not go crazy over it, if in a couple years it is still there then I would try to go on a sensible diet and exercise program. Running is great and you can even start now if you want.

That’s because love handles are fat, and you can’t spot reduce fat through exercise. Continue to work out – kickboxing is a GREAT exercise for your midsection. And abs as well. To keep from losing weight go on a weight training program to build muscle – since muscle weighs more than fat. But mostly losing love handles is all diet. I have some of the biggest love handles for my small body frame size. But they are greatly diminishing due to diet. I do an hour of exercise each day, and I’m on a 2000 calorie diet. Make all your carbs whole wheat and multi-grain, that will make a HUGE difference. This applies to bread and pasta. Also eat brown rice instead of white rice. I eat Pepperidge Farm 15-grain bread, it’s delicious! Cut down on sugar – see if you can use the sweetener Truvia in your coffee and tea – it is a really good sweetener alternative and doesn’t have the rumors of sketchy health issues like aspartame and other sweeteners do. Eat oatmeal instead of all those sugary cereals, you can throw in nuts and raisins and fruit to make it interesting, and if you need sweetener, use Truvia. Regulate your portions. I make sure to get 6 oz of grains a day (1 bagel – 4 oz, 1 slice of bread – 1 oz, 1 cup cereal – 1 oz, 1 cup cooked rice – 2 oz, 1 tortilla – 4 oz). See how quickly we can eat too many grains? I eat 2.5 cups of vegetables a day, 2 cups of fruits, 3 cups of milk, and 5.5 oz of dried beans/peas. If you follow a similar diet you will see a huge difference!! My big weakness is cheesecake so I allow for a weakness like that maybe once a month. If you want to eat a huge IHOP breakfast or a huge Chipotle burrito, maybe 3-4 times a year I allow myself that.
But yeah – melting fat in selected areas is diet. Toning up is exercise.
