brushfour I want your take on this.I was watching a kai greene training video for the 2009 olympia and his trainer oscar sais the body can assimilate WAY more than 30 grams of protein a sitting. HE stated Kai Greene was taking 400 to 500 grams of protein a day. But could it just be that steroids grow your muscles so quickly you simply need more protein to fuel the abnormal rapid growth of muscle tissue. So if kai was not on steroids thier would be no reason for the massive protein intake right?

Yes I have read MANY stories about VERY high protein intakes by professional b-builders; particularly the very heavyweights. Many of these guys weigh 280-340 lbs. THAT is stunningly large for a bodybuilder! Arnold in his hey day was between 220-240 lbs. I've read their protein intakes being of 350-500 g per day. What I've also noticed however is that their carbohydrate intake is relatively small; 200-350 g per day, with of course some healthy fat. So their daily cal intake is relatively small.

Have a friend who is a heavyweight competitive bodybuilder. He also monkeys around with "some" steroids,.but not a lot. He also consumes around 275-300 g protein per day. That's 1200 cals. But his carbs are around 200g per day. Add some healthy fat cals to that and he's excatly what he told me he was calorie-wise per day; about 2000-2100. I am NOT sure why the large bodybuilder guys like Kai Greene, Jay Cutler, Dexter Jackson, Ronnie Coleman and a LONG list of others consume that much protein.

Of course there is some link to the their large supplementation of anabolic steroids. Their carbs and fats are about the same as any other bodybuilder, but they increase that protein up to about 1.5 g/ lb bodyweight. Kai Greene and Cutler are about 290-320 lbs, so 1.5 g per lb. = 450 grams or so. What the specifics of high protein intake and high anabolic steroid intake are I do not know. I DO believe however that this high protein intake by steroid users has mislead natural bodybuilders.

ilove2, seriously there is quite a bit to know for a beginner. It takes a lot of explaining and understanding to get going in the right direction. Most people who start out...start out incorrectly and waste a lot of time doing nonsense because they do not know what they are doing. Steve's site is a HUGE help. It will guide you the whole friggin' way. You'll learn shit about getting strong and ripped you never could have found on your own. For $20 bucks per month let him guide you. IT'S WORTH IT!

Kojax, when you say you exercise, what kind of exercises are you doing? Also, your food choices sound good, but you don't have to have THAT much protein. I'm wondering how much fiber you're getting in your diet. The carbs your taking in, are we talking about grains and brown rice and red potatoes and fruits and vegetables. If we are, and you're also doing cardio, you will not put on fat....you will more likely then not LOSE fat.

@kojaxkid Hi, try to eat a good protein source and a good carbohydrate at each meal. Good protein source as in chicken, nuts, fish, lean red meat, eggs, milk. Good carbohydrate as in oats, brown rice if you are trying to put on muscle. If you are focusing more on fat loss, go with a more simple carb like an apple. Try to get in as many vegetables as possible, if possible raw and fresh. Do weights 3 times a week and cadio on the opposite days of the week 3 times as well.
