What is a good weight loss diet for vegetarians?
My husband and I are both vegetarians (well I eat seafood, but he does not). We both need to lose at least 40 pounds. What is a good diet program that would work with what we eat. I know a lot of people that lost weight with Atkins & South Beach, but those diets don’t really fit in to a vegetarian lifestyle. I am not looking for a quick fix, but something that we will be able to stick with for awhile. I know that part of our problem is that we eat a lot of carbs. We practically live on pasta. Its hard because we work different schedules so neither one of us really cooks a meal, but rather grabs something to eat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, I understand exercise. Thats a given. That isn’t what I was asking. What other meals are good for vegetarians that don’t include so many carbs?

Hey I know how about “EXERCISE” HMMMMM and lets see “QUIT THE CARBS”
oh and “EXERCISE”
I joined weightwatchers online. i have lost 31lbs since the beginning ogf the year. I am not vegetarian, but eat many non flesh meals on this due to wanting less calories. They have a great database of recipes to call on, and the online system keeps you focused for about $5.00 a week.it is not a quick fix, but, a good disipline for the long term.
Salads…..salads are delicious!! and those little tomatoes…and fruit….thats what I do
WHY DONT YOU EXERCISE INSTEAD OF SITTING AROUND
there may be a diet out there tailor-made for vegetarians, but the easiest one you can do is to continue to eat what you currently eat….the key being portion control…….gonna be hard at first, but it will work….keeping in mind a few simple rules….no meals after 8pm….a piece of fresh fruit ok…..keep a food diary for a week, look at what you eat, then sit down and analyze the amount of calories you consume….you will start to lose weight buy decreasing your weekly caloric intake by 500 calories….try to make your calories count more….eating foods higher in protein and more fiber and complex carbs….e.g. brown rice instead of white rice….a lot of restaurants are nowadays conscious of the need to reduce carb intake and offer veggies instead of starches…seek them out. good luck…and, it really does work….remember, you did not put 40lbs on in a week, you’re not going to take it off in one either
I know that what I’m going to say, you may blow off, but I highly suggest you looking into it. I’m sure, positive, it will help you two out!
I lost a lot of weight following the raw food diet, and I liked it so much I decided to keep following the raw food diet, as a lifestyle! There are countless of examples online of success stories of raw fooders! And those that say it’s unhealthy, obviously haven’t looked into the whole diet. It’s extremely healthy, nourishing, good for your entire body– inside and out– extremely low in fat, high in carbs, but the good ones.
It’s fantastic. You’ll never be bored. You can literally eat as much of it as you want and still lose weight! It’s also very spiritually enlighting. You’ll find yourself with increased energy, and you’ll feel a bit superior which is normal in the beginning. You’ll realize how eating cooked food is eating dead food. Cooking food kills all the enzymes. You’re left with well tasting dead food that does absoloutely nothing in your body but pile up and causes disease and layers of fat that you’ll ‘diet’ hoping to lose, and eventually fall into the yo-yo trap.
I wish you tons of luck on your weight loss journey, and I hope you try the raw food lifestyle. There are many books that suggest trying at least 3 weeks of this way of life. Just 3 weeks! I personally have met men, and women, who’ve lost over 20 lbs in only one month following the raw food diet, which can also be called the ‘Detox’ diet.
You’ll discover how great food really is, but the good kind.
Please, just try!
Best of wishes!
