My bf and I have been jogging/running for the same length of time and he has 2 top abs developing and I have none. How do the abs get worked? How can I increase my chances of getting them WHILE jogging/ running besides sit ups and crunches?

Well, cardio improves your overall body comp. In other words, it burns the fat overlying your abdominal muscles. That means whatever muscle is there will be shown in greater relief. Almost any kind of exercise recruits the abs, because they play such a crucial role in maintaining form/posture (keeping your body upright) and also in moving the trunk. Boys have an unfair advantage, I’m afraid, because nature equips us for action, not for storing energy for babies. :( Any sort of weight training will help you burn fat. Not only will you burn calories while you lift, but the muscle you develop will help you burn fat. Muscle is very calorically expensive tissue, meaning the body has to burn lots of energy to build and maintain it. Packing on muscle is packing on your body’s natural calorie-burner.
